TMV demands that AFP investigate and arrest Israel’s President Herzog and Almog
Yesterday, The Muslim Vote formally wrote to the Australian Federal Police (AFP) demanding that it immediately investigate and arrest Israeli President Isaac Herzog, should he enter Australian territory.
The letter sets out the legal basis for this demand. It makes clear that public statements made by President Herzog following 7 October have been cited by a United Nations Human Rights Council–mandated inquiry as relevant to the incitement of genocide. These are not political claims. They are matters of international criminal law, supported by documented statements and findings from authoritative international mechanisms.
TMV’s position is straightforward: Australia has enacted domestic legislation giving effect to the Genocide Convention and related international crimes frameworks. These laws impose real obligations, including investigation and prevention, when jurisdictional thresholds are met. The physical presence in Australia of an individual credibly implicated in genocide or incitement to genocide plainly engages those obligations.
The letter also draws the AFP’s attention to reports that Doron Almog, a former Israeli Major General previously subject to war crimes proceedings in the United Kingdom, may accompany this visit. TMV has demanded that any AFP assessment extend to him as well, given the clear precedent for law-enforcement action in comparable jurisdictions.
This correspondence is not a request for diplomacy, delay, or political commentary. It is a demand that the rule of law be applied without exception, regardless of rank, office, or political sensitivity. If Australia claims to uphold international law, it must be prepared to enforce it, especially when the allegations concern the most serious crimes known to humanity.
We will keep the community informed of any response from the AFP and of next steps.
