Register for the Submission-Writing Event in 5 days (11th April)
Write your own submission to the Royal Commission
Join The Muslim Vote on 11 April at 1:00 pm for a practical session on how to write a submission to the Royal Commission. This event is designed to help community members understand what a submission is, how the process works, what kind of issues can be raised, and how to present concerns clearly, seriously, and effectively. The aim is to give people the confidence to move from frustration and concern into something concrete that enters the public record.
The event is free, but registration is required
Why does it matter?
Royal Commissions matter because they do not simply collect opinions. They help shape how governments, institutions, and the public understand a problem, and their findings often influence future laws, policies, public narratives, and institutional responses. That is why this process matters for the Muslim community. What is said, recorded, accepted, or ignored in this forum can affect how Muslim experiences are treated for years to come, including issues of policing, discrimination, public suspicion, civil liberties, and the broader question of whether the community is heard fairly and represented truthfully.
Your voice matters because lived experience is evidence of how decisions, policies, policing, media narratives, and public treatment are actually felt on the ground. Speaking about your own experiences helps show the real human impact of what is often discussed in abstract terms, and it ensures the Commission hears directly from the people who have carried the consequences.
Experienced speakers
You will also be guided by experienced speakers who understand the legal, civic, and political significance of this process. They will walk participants through what the Commission is looking for, how to frame personal and community concerns with clarity, and how to ensure submissions are grounded, relevant, and effective. The session is designed not just to inform, but to equip people with the confidence and direction needed to put forward something serious, credible, and impactful.
Lunch provided
Lunch will be provided for attendees, giving people the chance to stay, connect, and continue conversations throughout the session in a relaxed and welcoming setting. We want the event to be both practical and accessible, so participants can focus fully on engaging with the process and developing their submission.
